Anti-Wrinkle
Treatments

As we age our skin naturally becomes less elastic, and also more fragile. Our body’s production of natural oils reduces, which makes our skin appear more wrinkled.

Habitual facial expressions like squinting, smiling or creasing your forehead can lead to grooves forming beneath the surface of the skin, and over a period of years can create fine lines around the face.

Using anti-wrinkle injections can soften the appearance of these fine lines and wrinkles.

What is it made of and how does it work?

Anti wrinkle injections are made up of a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin – more commonly called Botox. Botox is currently the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world, with more than 6 million treatments carried out per year just in the US alone.

Anti wrinkle treatments work by injecting small amounts of the toxin in to the areas containing wrinkles or fine lines. The Botox then temporarily paralyses the muscles in those areas by preventing them to contract, thus almost instantly reducing the appearance of wrinkles drastically. If a person has deep lines, then a combination of dermal filler and anti-wrinkle treatments may need to be used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

For anti-wrinkle treatments there is no need for anaesthetic as our clients have described the pain as equivalent to having a few eyebrow hairs plucked out.

How long do the effects last?

It can take 4 to 7 days for the effects of the anti-wrinkle treatments to become apparent. The effects can last up to 6 months but most people will need a top up around 4 months after. If areas are re-treated the wrinkles usually appear less than before.

Are there any side effects?

Most people find the injections minimally painful. There can be some mild bruising which can take a few days to settle.

How often can I have treatments?

Treatments can be repeated after 3 months, but the treatments may last longer in some people especially if you have had previous treatments in the same area.

Will I still have expression in my face?

Anti-wrinkle treatments are there to smooth out dynamic lines and do not affect your facial expressions. We are firm believers in a natural look.

What after care should I follow?

  • Continue to make facial expressions
  • Remain upright for 3-4 hours after your treatment.
  • Avoid rubbing or touching the injected areas and avoid having facials and massage for 48 hours this is to ensure that the treatment remains at the site of injection.
